Internship Description
Are you the sort of person who looks at problems and thinks about how a machine learning tool could help solve it?
On the internship you will work as a part of a team involved in applying machine learning technologies to create innovative solutions for defence. Work in areas such as:
- Design and Implementation of Advanced Machine Learning Algorithms – Focus on crafting and deploying sophisticated machine learning algorithms tailored to address real-world challenges
- Research in AI/ML Technologies – Engage in research to delve into the mechanisms underlying state-of-the-art AI and ML technologies, enhancing your understanding and capabilities
- Full Life Cycle of AI/ML Model Development – Experience the entire spectrum of model development from conceptualisation and data preparation to training, evaluation, and deployment
- Many cutting edge technologies
- Generative adversarial networks
- Reinforcement learning in generative models
- Latent diffusion models
- Transformers for natural language generation aka large language models
- Computer vision, including: image classification, object detection, instance segmentation, motion analysis, image restoration, pose estimation
- Autonomous systems, including: intelligent agents and human-machine collaboration

Essential criteria
- Australian Citizenship. We will sponsor a Security Clearance
- Undergraduate student, in a software-related field or another engineering discipline with software experience
